Stats on stats

With BAFA week 1 complete for roughly two thirds of the Division 1 teams it’s time to look at the first crop of statistics. After 1 week we are down to 7 undefeated teams from the 26 teams competing in 4 divisions (Highlands - Div 1, North A - Div 1, North B - Div 1, Midlands - Div 1). The 7 teams ranked in BAFA order, with NPPG as the differentiator after win %, are:
Leeds Samurai
Manchester Titans- B
Warrington Revolution
Northants Phantoms
Moray Distillers
Border City Centurions
Aberdeen Silvercats
And, as a balance there are 7 winless teams across the 4 divisions. Their time will surely come. But those are the statistics that don’t focus our attention. Oh no. Individual glory is where it’s at and that sadly is a sorry tale. This year, once again, the player stats are recorded on League Republic (https://bafaflag.leaguerepublic.com/index.html). Sadly there will be no glory for some. Of the 26 competing teams only 15 have recorded their player stats on League Republic. No Team of the Week places for you if your admin hasn’t logged your feats on League Republic. In fact, not a sniff at Team of the Year. Surprisingly, the ever competitive Scots are bottom of the Stat King table with only two teams logging stats. A sorry state of affairs.

So, pester your admins and get them to enter the details before the next game weekend. It’s a 5 minute task.
Other eyebrow raising statistics centre around the glory hunters, the QBs. On League Republic this week there were approximately 60 interceptions taken by defenders. But only 45 interceptions were thrown by players. Curious. Similarly there were 20 sacks made. But only 9 times were the QBs sacked. Even more curious. Don’t be those guys.
Current stat leaders on League Republic, at least until 11 teams add their stats:
TDs thrown 15 - Kyle Taylor (Leeds Samurai)TDs caught 6 - Gordon McSherry (Edinburgh Gunslingers)/Martin Walton (Lincolnshire Longhorns)Rushing TDs 1 - LotsPick 6s 2 - James Dean (Manchester Titans B)/Jonny Dudley (Leeds Samurai)Interceptions 5 - Mike Long (West Lancashire Serpents)Sacks 4 - Olly Egan (Nottingham Bears)Safety 1 - Kieran Hersnip (Warrington Revolution)
